Cassidy is a national hero | Letters to the Editor

On December 14th, Michael Cassidy, a Mississippi politician who unsuccessfully ran for the 52nd District seat, walked into the Iowa Statehouse and struck down a statue set up by the Satanic Temple. It may come to shock some people that a Conservative stronghold like Iowa would allow such a thing, but their feckless leaders not only allowed it, but defended it by citing “religious freedom”. Mr. Cassidy understood though that there is no freedom for evil. He wasn’t afraid of being called a “Christian Nationalist” or a radical: he just simply “did something”. He didn’t write a strongly worded letter and attend open hearings to voice his concerns.

No, he did what had to be done. Instead of hailing him as a hero, Conservatives who call themselves Christians are chastising him. Why? Because they are cowards, petrified in fear. They are habitual rule followers whose only real religion is Civics, beholden to the Constitution over what is right. If any law protects evil, then it is not a just law and we are not beholden to follow it. Despite what is commonly believed, tolerance is not a Christian value. We have allowed too much evil to persist in the name of fairness and equality. Now, this shouldn’t be a controversial stance, but here we are.
