David Walliams biography

David was born on 20th August 1971 to Peter Williams (father) and Kathleen Williams (mother). He was born at St Teresa's Maternity Hospital in Wimbledon, in the London Borough of Merton. How old is David Walliams? The talented comedian is 49 years old as of 2021.

His father was a London transport engineer, while his mother was a laboratory technician working at Sutton Grammar School. He was brought up by his two parents in Banstead, Surrey, in the residential area of Nork, alongside his only sibling, Julie Williams (sister). His father died in 2008 from liver cancer.

After his elementary studies, he joined Collingwood Boy's School in Wallington before transferring to Reigate Grammar School in Surrey. He was a contemporary writer at Reigate Grammar School. Between 1989 and 1992, the comedian studied at the University of Bristol.

He resided at Manor Hall, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama. During school holidays, he performed with the National Youth Theatre. He met his comedy partner Matt Lucas at the National Youth Theatre.

Later, he joined College Equity, formerly known as the British Actors Equity Association. He changed his stage name from his birth name, David Williams, to David Walliams since there was a member by the same name.

David began his career by performing in the Big Finish Production, Doctor Who audio play Phantasmagoria, written by Mark Gatiss. Later on, he presented a documentary, David Walliams: My Life with James Bond, about James Bond.

He made his debut in the film, starring as Viscount Bilston in Plunkett & Macleane. In TV shows, he debited with the role of Gareth Peas in Mash and Peas in 1996. Since 2012, he became one of the judges on the ITV talent show, Britain's Got Talent.
